For any drop that involves a penalty (water hazard, unplayable lie) and has a club length restriction, how many club lengths away must the ball be dropped within?

b. two
c. go back as far as you like
d. until you get complete relief
For the “expert”
In stroke play, the player takes penalty relief from a lateral water hazard. He drops the ball within the prescribed area, the ball rolls down the bank more than 1 club length and just outside the hazard. The player has to stand in the hazard at this point. He picks the ball up and drops again properly, but does not have to stand in the hazard. He plays the shot from the new position. What is the proper amount of strokes to add to his score?
a. one for the water hazard penalty (1)
b. one for the water hazard and one more for moving a ball in play (2)
c. one for the water hazard, one for moving the ball in play, and two for playing from the wrong place (4)
d. one for the water, two for playing from the wrong place (3)
